Ecclesiastes 7-10 is Solomon’s discussion on wisdom and wise living that is rudely interrupted in 9:1-12 by Death and Chance, which shatter any illusions we have that life under the sun makes sense. The seeming contradiction between the goodness of created life and the awfulness of death can only be resolved if we look beyond life under the sun.
